‘ ROZGAAR MELA’ at NIESBUD

The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) organized a Recruiters’ Meet (Rozgaar Mela) today at its campus in NOIDA.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Meet, Shri J.P. Rai, Executive Director, National Council on Skill Development, delineated different initiatives of the Government of India for skilling/up-skilling the youth for remunerative employment. Shri Arun Kumar Jha, Director General, NIESBUD elucidated the efforts of the Institute in increasing enterprise creation by the trained persons and providing employment assistance to them so that they get gainful employment in different industrial/service sectors. The day-long Meet was attended by the representatives of 54 companies/firms including McDonald’s, Pizza Hut, Haldiram’s, Pantaloon, Devyani Food Chain and Godrej Kitchen.

A total of 618 participants earlier trained by the Institute in different skills/trades were registered for the event out of which 237 were provided on-the-spot offer of employment at a monthly pay range of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 7,500 in Light Engineering Works to Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 14,000 in IT Sector. More than 50 participants have been retained for the second round of grooming by different companies. The earlier Meets at NOIDA and Patna organized last year also evoked a very warm response.

The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is engaged in training, research and consultancy interventions with the objective of promotion and development of micro, small and medium enterprises including enhancement of their competitiveness through different interventions. One of the important categories of training activities of the Institute is Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) and Entrepreneurship-cum-Skill Development Programmes (ESDPs) under the “Assistance to Training Institutions (ATI) Scheme” of the Ministry of MSME.

The basic objective of these programmes is to encourage the maximum number of participants for self-employment after the training. The Institute also extends the entire range of hand-holding assistance to them for the purpose. The Institute provides placement assistance to those who opt for wage-employment after the training. Towards this end, the Institute inter-alia organizes Recruiters’ Meet(s)/Rozgaar Mela(s) at different places from time to time.
