Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Shri K. C. Venugopal informed the Lok Sabha today that the State Government of Madhya Pradesh has requested AAI for transfer of the airstrips located at Panna, Satna and Khandwa to the State Government.
The ownership of Panna Airstrip is claimed by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh on the basis of revenue records. However, the Panna airstrip has been listed as Civil Aviation Department (CAD) airport in Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) No. 18/1986 and was transferred thereafter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and then to the National Airports Authority and later on to AAI as per the provisions of AAI Act.
The modalities for transfer of Panna Airstrip from AAI to the State Government of Madhya Pradesh is being finalized in consultation with AAI and the State Government.
