Union Tourism Minister Shri K.Chiranjeevi, has strongly condemned the act of attacking the international symbol of peace, unity and human upliftment; the Mahabodhi Temple complex in Bodhgaya, Bihar.
In a statement issued here today, he deeply regretted the injuries caused to the pilgrims and damage to the property by this attack. The shrine estimated to be built between 5th and 6th century AD is holiest pilgrimage for Buddhists from world over. The Minister urged all sections of the society to be tolerant to each other in the matter of religious faith and work towards building one humanistic society on the path shown by Lord Buddha.
Meanwhile, the Tourism Ministry has sought an immediate report from the Department of Tourism, Government of Bihar on the damage caused to this World Heritage Site.
